LAND PLANNER & LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT (Job Code: LP)
*** Immediate opening for a mid-level land planner and landscape architect ***
Responsibilities: Preparation of land plans for single family, multi family and commercial subdivisions, attendance at planning commission meetings, participation at client and regulatory agency meetings, and collaboration with related disciplines in land development projects; assist registered landscape architect with preparation of conceptual designs, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and illustrative drawings for landscape related projects.
Education: BA or BS in landscape architecture or related professional degree with a minor in land planning.
Skills Required: Candidate should have 3 to 5 years of land planning experience. The landscape designer/assistant planner will be responsible for planning and design projects both independently and collaboratively. The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent graphic skills are required, including the ability to prepare both hand drawn and AutoCAD based drawings. Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) knowledge is also required. GIS experience is desired.
Experience Required: Qualified candidates must have a college degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in land planning of single family, multi family and commercial subdivisions, familiarity with City of Houston Chapter 42 regulations and guidelines. The candidate's professional experience must also include landscape planning, design, and plant selection. Experience working with contractors and conducting construction oversight and monitoring are desired. Experience with RFQ response, community involvement, and Low Impact Development strategies are desired.
