Practice Area Leader - Landscape Architecture

Tim May is a licensed Landscape Architect and a graduate of Kansas State University. He is the Landscape Architecture Practice Area Leader for EHRA and brings a creative and collaborative approach to project design and solutions. With nearly 40 years of professional experience, Tim's portfolio of successful projects includes park master plans, parks, trails, amenity centers, entry features, hike and bike trails, athletic complexes, recreational facilities, homeowners associations, and water features. Tim's experience also includes a number of projects that include streambank protection and mitigation, dune preservation, mitigation, and re-vegetation at coastal developments and parks, as well as resilient solutioning of a predicted 5' of sea level rise and associated stormwater challenges at established subdivisions in Tampa Bay Florida. He has successfully assisted in the land planning and zoning of numerous large-scale master plan communities, as well as high-profile landscape development and management of numerous projects. His projects commonly evolve from an approach that brings the appropriate design professionals to the table for project solutioning. This approach serves to encourage a collaboration of ideas that create uniquely designed projects, works with the natural and given attributes of the land, economizes the expense of development, is responsive to buildable methods of construction, and brings value to the community. Tim is currently serving as vice chairman of the Hickory Creek Planning and Zoning Commission and as a member of the Professional Advisory Committee at Oklahoma State University. His past leadership positions include Treasurer, President, and National Trustee of the American Society of Landscape Architecture Texas Chapter. He also served 12 years as a Lake Dallas ISD School Board Trustee, and board member positions for the Greater Lewisville YMCA, Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce, and Lake Cities Education Foundation. Tim has been recognized for his service to the profession of landscape architecture and has presented and been published on numerous occasions. When he relaxes, Tim enjoys the outdoors, his family, a round of golf and a bit of trout fishing with his father, and his two terrier dogs Peaty (Scottie) and Isla (Westie).

Placemaking Solutions With a Meaningful Approach

With designs that work for a community, at EHRA we create places for people to frequent, interact, and enjoy; to live, work and play. Our landscape architects are at the forefront of project solutioning on the design team to ensure creative ideas can become a reality for our clients. Knowing each project is unique, EHRA approaches a project with a fresh perspective that sees opportunity, solves with creativity, and succeeds for our clients.

EHRA landscape architects solve projects with expertise in sustainable design. This approach will benefit place users today and those that will use it tomorrow. Our solutions are resilient to conditions that are specific to each site and respond to the placemaking program, have flexibility in use, absorb seasonal weather and climate impacts, and acknowledge the necessary engineering function through collaborative design.
