Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 71, Harris County, Texas (Key Map 445 M)
Lead in design development, landscape architecture, construction phase services
This project consisted of the installation of a 24-foot prefabricated steel gazebo (assembled and installed by vendor) and a 4-foot x 25-foot prefabricated steel bridge (assembled and installed by vendor) to replace the previous wooden structure; concrete piers for gazebo and bridge; 34-foot diameter elevated composite decking, stairs, ADA ramp, elevated stacked stone planter and 150-LF of concrete sidewalk. The elevated deck creates a 5-foot walkway around the gazebo which visually makes the structure appear larger. A drip irrigation system in the planter wall prevents irrigation overspray which would have occurred with traditional spray heads due to frequent windy conditions in the Katy, Texas area. Low voltage lighting in the gazebo and on the pathway will operate using approximately 1/30 of the electrical power the District’s previous gazebo consumed with standard floodlights.
